Some interesting news broke in the EV world this month! 💡
AutoTrader, ChargeUK, and the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders (SMMT) have teamed up to fight misinformation about electric vehicles. Their goal is to provide a clear, data-backed picture of what owning and driving an EV is really like.
After launching in November 2024, their initiative has now been updated with fresh insights, including:
⚡ Public charge points have grown to 75,675, with ultra-rapid chargers hitting 15,109.
⚡ The price gap between EVs and traditional petrol/diesel cars has decreased from 33% to 23% in March.
⚡ 38% of used EVs are now priced under £20,000—up from one in three in November.
⚡ There are now 29 new EVs available under £30,000, up from 21 last year.
⚡ Potential annual savings from owning an EV have increased from £750 to £790 due to rising fuel costs.
Recent data from Auto Trader shows that more retailers are offering used EVs, a sign that the market is growing in confidence.
Despite some initial hesitation from both consumers and retailers, a strong 83% of current electric car owners say they would choose an electric vehicle again. 👏
