🚘 Our Myth Buster is on the road again! ❌

Today we’re focusing on Range Anxiety – the fear that your electric car will run out of battery before you reach your destination or a charging point.😟

We’ve all been there, whether you’re a potential EV buyer or a seasoned one. At some point the worry has seemed real but, from personal experience, within a couple of weeks of driving EV, the concern is diminished. It’s essentially a psychological barrier rather than a practical concern for most EV drivers. 🧠

⚡ The average range of an EV in the UK is 280 miles, with many popular ranges exceeding 300 miles.

The highest range EV in the UK is the Mercedes EQS. A large 107.8 kWh battery pack and low drag coefficient means that the EQS can cover a claimed 458 miles on one charge.

According to the Department for Transport:
·        The average car trip length is 8.4 miles
·        The average daily mileage is around 20–25 miles
·        Even long-distance commuters typically cover under 60 miles per day

This means most EVs can handle 3 to 7 days of regular driving between charges. Even on longer trips — say a 200-mile weekend drive — many EVs can do it without stopping. If you do need to recharge, UK public infrastructure is growing daily. 👏

So, is range anxiety still justified? For most drivers, no.

Modern EVs easily cover the majority of UK driving habits. Public charging has become more reliable and widespread and for those charging at home or work, it’s a non-issue.

Simply put, range anxiety is based on out-dated information or psychological assumptions.
